Ian is 9 months!

I couldn't resist sharing a few pictures of Ian and Noah that we took in July.  While it's not "9 mos", they were just too cute.  The 2nd picture is of the boys playing quietly together, which I know won't be often enough, but very cute.

Hard to believe our little man is 9 mos old already!  Thursday was his official 9 mo. apt where we discovered he is 23 lbs and 29.3" long.  In the 90th percentile for both height and weight.  He's in the 97th percentile for head size so, no shock, we have a big boy.  He's taking after his brother.  I'm think I'm seeing a pattern here - Noah seems to be taking after daddy, while I think Ian is going to take after Uncle Matt (as far as height goes!).  Overall, he's doing really well.  We are going to put him back on Prevacid as he still seems to have trouble with the reflux.  The doctor recommended we start giving Ian real "people" food to practice picking up food and putting it in his mouth.  Mike tried giving him some burger, to which he promptly gagged and threw up.  I tried giving him some pancake today, to which he promptly gagged and threw up.  Seeing a pattern here?  Ian seems to be a vegetarian at this point in time, refusing to eat any kind of meat product.  I was surprised he wouldn't eat the pancake though.  I went and bought him some toddler puffs thinking he might try those.  Nope, not only would he not eat his fruit today, he wouldn't even consider putting a puff in his mouth.  When I did it, he immediately spit it out.  Then barfed.  Fun.  Looks like we have our work cut out for us.

Ian's doing well with his walking.  He's moving as we hold his hand and he walks along the couch.  He's still extremely clingy to mommy, but now getting a little more so with daddy too.  Still cries when anyone else holds him.  I don't remember Noah being anything like this - I think we can see who's the outgoing one and who's not!  I can only hope it's a phase too as it's really hard to get anything done around the house when your child cries if you aren't in the line of vision or holding him.

We took Ian's 9 mo. pictures on Saturday, and got some of the boys together as well.  They really turned out great.  Both boys were well-behaved and lots of great smiles.  I think you would agree. :-)  We can't even believe Noah is 3 1/2 already.  They are growing way too fast.  Ian's already had 3 hair cuts (yes, by mommy because he can barely stay still) and they are not perfect.  I'm just trying to keep the hair out of his eyes and off his back.

Both boys are in their second month of swim lessons.  Ian seems to hate them more each week and Noah completely regressed in this past weekend's lesson.  Unfortunately the mother of the little boy he was taking them with had a freak out when her son started sinking (Coach was right there to get him) but it pretty much freaked Noah out and he cried the entire lesson.  It was really rough.  All he can say now is that he doesn't want to go to swim lessons just "because."  We think he's just scared.  I hope he's more successful over the next three weeks.

That's all for now.  We are just trying to stay cool.  I have a feeling we're going to break the record for hottest days in a row very soon.
Love to all,

Fourth of July weekend in Wichita

I know this is looooonnngggg overdue - seeing as how it's a month later, but I wanted to make sure I updated you on the weekend.  We all had a wonderful time spending the weekend with Grandma & Grandpa Blick, cousins, Aunt Dana and Uncle Ryan. Despite the heat, we took the boys to the zoo where I think Noah enjoyed spending more time with the statues than the actual animals. :-)  Noah was very frightened of the gorillas and did not want to spend much time there - which was too bad as they were the most interesting.  Ian spent a very brief time awake - he snoozed most of the time which was ok.  After a few hours, everyone was cranky and ready for nap time.  We spent the rest of the weekend at the house with family, which was perfect!

When we got home, we decided for the first time to put Ian in the "big kid" tub.  Noah wanted to join him so we got a cute pic of the boys together.  Something I will enjoy showing their girlfriends one day. :-)
Saturday we celebrated the 4th with lots of aunts, uncles and cousins.  Grandma had folks over for dinner, then dessert.  Grandma and Grandpa presented Mike with his b-day gift, which was the game, cornhole, which my uncles created for him.  That night we had cornhole tournaments, and played for hours.  It was a lot of fun!
Sunday we did another 4th of July celebration with the family.  Noah was able to do some "fireworks".  We discovered that they don't make sparklers like they used to - quite a let down actually.  Noah still seemed to have a good time.  Throughout both Saturday and Sunday night we were able to see fireworks, even though we didn't actually go anywhere to watch.

It was a great weekend with everyone.  The boys got to spend some time with their Uncle Ryan who they don't get to see that often.  Of course, after a few days, I think Uncle Ryan was thrilled to go back to Chicago and enjoy his nephews from a safe distance!
Cheers,
