Happy Birthday to Mike!

What a busy and fulfilling weekend we had! Although, it didn't necessarily start off that way. We received some unfortunate news Wed. evening when I picked up Noah. His daycare provider is closing down her daycare! She's losing 4 of the 5 kids she was watching and as a single mother of three, she would not be able to support her family on the salary we were paying her. As many of you know, we had difficulties finding her in the first place so I'm not sure how it's going to play out trying to find someone again. Fortunately, Jennifer's mother is going to take care of Noah until we find a replacement so we aren't completely kicked to the curb just yet.

Thursday I took a personal day and spent some time with Noah where we practiced sitting up. Here are a few pictures. He's getting pretty good at it and I'm sure will be doing it by himself all time very soon.

We celebrated Mike's birthday a little early Friday night (actual day is July 29) by having some friends over for fajitas and beer. Seems like a good time was had by all!

Saturday night Mike and I celebrated our June 3rd anniversary with dinner out at Taverna (delicious if you haven't tried it) followed by attending the Broadway musical, Jersey Boys. The show is based off of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, their rise to fame and the difficulties that followed. It was a very entertaining show and we left with several of their songs stuck in our heads. It was a great date night and we were fortunate enough to have Aunt Dana take care of Noah for us so we could enjoy our time together!

Sunday was a low-key day; and now it's already time for Monday again! We hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend!

It's HOT! HOT! HOT!

Not too much to share this week. Noah has been sick again with a cold. His nose is running non-stop and he is again waking up in the middle of the night, whether from being unable to breath or because he's stuck in a corner from rolling around. Mike and I have just gotten used to it. Until he's over this cold and/or we figure out a way to keep him still, it will be a part of life.

We've been practicing sitting up with Noah (although he'd much rather lay down and doesn't seem to take too much interest in it.) We've also been trying to teach him to reach for his bottle and hold it. He's got the reaching down pat, and as for the holding, he starts out that way, but then decides its much easier when we do it. Yes, I think we have a lazy child. As long as someone else is getting him what he wants, he sees no reason to try for himself.

The weekend was pretty low key. I had poker Friday night, to which I lost, but the company was fun. Mike, Noah and I ran some errands on Saturday but otherwise chilled at home. It's so hot out, and we thought about going to the pool, but then decided not to as we figured we'd end up melting from the heat. It was a good weekend to clean the house and stay inside!

Another week has just flown by! We are enjoying Noah more and more every day. His smiles and laughter get us going and we always look forward to seeing him each night. Friday night before his bath he was having some fun tummy time with me. The previous collicky memories are slowly fading, being replaced with these beautiful memories.

Saturday was another busy one - I attended an Uppercase Living party, courtesy of my friend Karen. It was really interesting and yes, I got sucked in to making some purchases! I'll be sure to let you know how they turn out once I get them and get the projects complete.

Noah and I then enjoyed lunch with my girlfriend, Julie. Noah has been so good when we take him on outings. I hope I didn't just jinx myself by saying that!

Saturday evening we visited with some friends at Amy and Jeremy's place. Visiting were our friends, Aaron and Karen, their daughter Olivia, Ashley and Kevin and their kids, Jocelyne and Jaxon, Kristy and Michael, and their son Nolan. Here is a picture of all the kids. It was like hearding cats (the only thing missing is the actual cat!), but at least we captured them at their finest! I remember seeing pictures like this of me when I was small, posing with family and friends. It's strange to see myself doing those same things that my mom used to do, in what I perceive was not so long ago (but in truth actually was)!

Sunday morning began as any other; Noah was very happy and very talkative! However, what was nice about this morning is that I was able to put him in his bouncer and go about my business getting some things done. He was happy to squalk (which is what it came out sounding like) to anyone or anything that would listen - or not. I can't imagine Mike was able to sleep with all of the noise. I was going about my business, when I realized that I had not heard the little munchkin in a few minutes. I looked over at him and this is what I discovered...

I was in complete disbelief! This child rarely goes to sleep unless someone is holding him! He must have still be pretty tired from the night before. Doesn't look comfortable but I think he still got in a 30 minute nap! Who's complaining?!

Once afternoon hit, he was again in a happy mood (we squeezed in a few naps prior - trust me, he was not this happy earlier!) Here is Noah with daddy, enjoying some talk time.

You'd never have guessed that this kid was collicky! It's not too difficult getting him to smile these days, so we are never short of adorable pictures! I still stand by that he is the cutest baby in DFW! :-)

Sunday evening, we were able to grab some dinner with our friends Kerrie and Kyle, and Joe, Rachel and their daughter Ava. It was so good to catch up and hear all about Kerrie and Kyle's twins they are expecting in Dec. and see how big (or little actually) Ava has gotten. She is 10 weeks behind Noah and the cutest, daintest little girl. Very precious!!

Already it's 9p and time for bed. Another crazy weekend behind us! I'm sure there will be more to look forward to this week!

Happy Independence Day!

What a busy and fun 4th of July we had! Noah was fortunate to have both his Grandma and Grandpa Reichert visiting from Alabama, AND Grandma Blick also came to stay and watch him while Mike and I went to a wedding in Houston on Saturday.

Mike and I woke up to quite a surprise on Friday morning. Here is what we saw:

Noah is officially rolling over all the time now! He proceeded to roll from his tummy to his back as well and got better and better throughout the weekend. Grandma Blick said she had him on a blanket on the floor while she was watching a movie on Saturday night and she looked down to check on him and he was already a couple feet away! Mike and I have to look out - he'll be crawling before we know it!

Noah got all decked out to celebrate the day:

Friday was full of fun with Noah's visit with his grandparents. You can tell he was very taken with them, esp. his Grandpa!

I had a nice visit with my mom, sister Dana and my cousin Jamie on Friday while out shopping. I heard all about Jamie's honeymoon to Italy - I'm so jealous! We BBQ'd at our house that evening with the entire family. Mike did a wonderful job grilling and making a fabulous dinner!

Saturday Mike and I left for Houston to see a college friend of Mike's get married. It was to be our first night together away from Noah. I wasn't worried but I did miss him terribly! We had a nice time catching up with friends and the ceremony and reception were beautiful. Mike and I tried sleeping in Sunday but I guess our bodies are accustomed to getting up with Noah. We were up and on our way by 9am.

It was great to be home - the smiles we got from Noah told us he missed us and was glad to see us as well!

We were so fortunate to have family surrounding us this weekend!
